CHALLENGES IN PLANNING URBAN SUSTAINABILITY POLICIES IN THE CITY OF SÃO PAULO

The city of São Paulo in Brazil represents the most important urban center South America due to its geospatial, demographic, and economic characteristics. present study aimed investigate what way considers e acts issues related sustainability. To this end, a bibliographic review about sustainability was first carried out. In second step, through qualitative exploratory research, in-depth interviews were conducted with people who represented views public private sector, academy, civil society dealing sustainable projects Paulo. Among main results, it possible conclude that, despite small advances that has managed make recent years, cannot yet be considered sustainable. For scenario more positive future, is essential municipality on three fronts: planning, reduction social inequality, environmental education.
